THSC saw a need in 1986 for the defense of home school and parental rights in the state of Texas because of the numerous lawsuits against home schoolers across the state and harmful legislation introduced in Austin. Ever since, THSC has provided advocacy through legal assistance and lobbying the Texas legislature to Keep Texas Families Free.
In the Legislature:
With THSC Watchman, we are the only organization that lobbies full time in Austin defending parental rights during the legislative session.
For 2017 our legislative priorities are as follows:
- Kill bad legislation that would compromise the rights of Texas families
- Parent-Child Protection Act to protect innocent families from CPS intrusion
- Family Unity Act to restore parental rights and close loopholes hurting families
- Tim Tebow Bill to allow home school students to participate in UIL activities
THSC provides expert testimony in cases where the right of a parent or parents to direct the care, custody, and education of their child(ren) is threatened. When necessary, THSC pursues litigation against institutions and individuals who abuse their authority, including our cases against Children’s Protective Services (CPS) and against the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC).
Cases with THSC involvement:
- Alex Brace Case
- Chassidie Russell Case
- Eulalia Meeks Case
- Heather Moody Case
- Jim Loose Case
- Theresa Allen Case
- Tutt Family Case
- Heather Wyatt Case
THSC has established a Parental Rights Litigation Fund to help fund the fight for parental rights against judges, grandparents, and others who seek to take away a parent’s God-given right to choose what is best for his or her own child(ren). Read about our current case: The Tutt Family.
THSC Continuing Legal Education Seminars
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars build a network of attorneys who are trained to help with the legal defense and advocacy of families from false Child Protective Services (CPS) allegation.
